well - probably about anything you do from this point will make it technically illegal to pass a smog test - if you are in a strict state like CA or NY. I know in CA the cops can "mess with you" especially if you piss them off - by writing you a smog ticket. they can do it if by the exhaust pipe they even have a reasonable SUSPICION you have modified the car. You will have to go to a special smog station and pay $100 or more for the test. IF you don't pass they will probably give you a time period to fix the car for retest and if you don't pass then - they will pull your plate and registration. They can be very shitty about it. 1. Rebuild your engine for a turbo setup (or swap it with a turbo ready engine).
