What are foreign car companys such as Toyota and Hondya doing?

that makes their car get better gas mileage than Fords, or Chevys? Have those car companys learned anything from the companys that make say the Toyota's get better mileage?What are foreign car companys such as Toyota and Hondya doing?Most Japanese car comapanies have researched labs which most of the time funded by the Japanese government to invent new technologies. The companies like Toyota invest in some of those research groups in Japan and buy the licence from them to use in their vehicles. Also, there are many extremely talented engineers in companies such as Toyota. They put a lot of money into research an innovation than we, North Americans. For example, some Japanese cars have computer chips that determine the best power capacity needed for the ride at specific interval. This reduce the use of gas overall, since it only release energy in the engine at a very specific time. Also, the physical design of Japanese and German cars are very unique and often time, the mechanical parts of the car is very stable in Toyota and Nissan than the ones we have.

Have you ever notice, that if we buy an American car we need to change something about few years down the road?

One more thing... have you ever noticed how Japanese made it so easy to remove any mechanical part of the car using one tool, while American ones require a lot of tools?

This is due to innovative technologies and design. I wish we can accomplish the same.What are foreign car companys such as Toyota and Hondya doing?It's not so much what they are doing now but what the Japanese and Europeans have been doing for decades. They have been spending a lot of money and time to make their product better and safer while the American companies have just been using same old technology over and over only with the goal of getting more power out of them. All the foreign car companies that have been experimenting with turbo charging, rotary engines, horizontally opposes engines. So many new innovations. While the American companies, since Ford starting making the first mass produced affordable car, has contributed nothing positive to the industry. It just seems like they have no pride in what they do.
