honestly, i would go with a civic. something of a 96-00. those cars are like the gas queens. they give if not more depending on model of car, any where from 300 to 450 miles per tank. and its about 30 bucks a tank roughly 10 gallon tank when on e. alot more common, if any thing breaks theres alot more people and shops who would rather work on a civic than a corolla.. and price is way cheap on maintence and parts, because honda parts are so universal. i've seen them run into the 400,000's. just as long as you maintence the car when your suppose. any car will fail with abuse. before you buy any car, you just want to look for or ask of the timing belt and water pump. theres a thing called the 30/60/90k meaning at 30 there should be a maintence and so on... if you buy any cars around the 90 to 100k as in 100,000 that should be fine if they had the car maintence cause thats when a new timing belt and water pump is suppose to go in, no matter the condition of the old one. hope that helps. oh by the way, a resell valve of a civic is more than that of a corolla. and the corolla i believe is a 1.3 to 1.4 liter engine. civc is a 1.5 to 1.6 liter. bigger engine with the same gas if not better of a corolla. and the slight added power is there when needed.
