How many miles and how many months determines when I should have my oil changed for my Toyota Rav4 1998?

There seems to be differing opinions. My Toyota Service center says that to maintain warranty on my vehicle, the oil should be changed after either 6,000 ks or within 6 months. What determines these requirements? How many miles and how many months determines when I should have my oil changed for my Toyota Rav4 1998?It comes from the recommended engineers. To be honest you will get away with 15k 12 months once the warranty runs outHow many miles and how many months determines when I should have my oil changed for my Toyota Rav4 1998?
No, it's not simple. Nothin is on cars.

Call some [not just one] Toyota dealers service depts.

By now there are prob many Service Bulletins on it.

If T hasnt seen the car in a while, have them check it now.

Toyota %26amp; Ford withhold Tech Service Bulletins from customers %26amp; govt.

"Automakers can save money if owners don’t know about service campaigns that include extended warranties." Consumer advocate Clarence Ditlow said.

Toyota alleged it wants to “protect its intellectual property” by withholding the bulletins.

Ford alleged it wants to protect its customers from the risks of do-it-yourself repairs using info in the TSBs. But Ford sells the TSBs to commercial distributors like alldata who in turn resell it w/o restriction.

Mercedes refused to comment on its policy. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/03/automo…How many miles and how many months determines when I should have my oil changed for my Toyota Rav4 1998?we do change oil and filter every 5000kms.

you should also consider the time the engine is running at idle speed/traffic.

oil is being use even at idle speed , right ?

actually, as a technician, we measure the oil life in terms of running hours not mileage.

mileage is use only as reference the engine ranHow many miles and how many months determines when I should have my oil changed for my Toyota Rav4 1998?
That is simply a guideline. Oil change intervals differ with everything. Get some synthetic oil and change it every 3,000-5,000miles or 3-5 months, whichever comes first. How many miles and how many months determines when I should have my oil changed for my Toyota Rav4 1998?It's a 12 year old CUV. I don't think you have a warranty on it.

Anyway 15,000 km or 12 months which ever comes first. If you drive on dirt roads and stuff then 6,000 km or 6 months.
