Why does my 2011 toyota corolla only shift to third and not fourth gear?

My toyota corolla only shifts up to third gear but does not go up to fourth. The RPM's sometimes jump a little when driving. It only has 1000 miles on it.Why does my 2011 toyota corolla only shift to third and not fourth gear?Is it a Auto or Manual. You probably have the overdrive button off which locks out fourth for performance instead of on for economy.
