What would cause starting problems and electrical problems in a 1986 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan? Please help!

I have a 1986 Toyota Corolla. It was running fine but then it sat for a few months. When I tried to crank it I got nothing. I turn the key and it just gives a short click- doesnt even try to start. Also now my radio, taillights, wipers, turn signals...etc. will not work, it isnt the battery as I have checked that. ANy info would be helpful. This car has less than 55,000 original miles! What would cause starting problems and electrical problems in a 1986 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan? I dont know how you checked the battery but i guess you used a tester and got 12 volts. So at least you should get a horn and a stop light. But you dont. Have yo checked the batt cables real good??? no corrosion on the wires or cables? I mean the inside of the battery connectors--no green corrosion??What would cause starting problems and electrical problems in a 1986 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan? Please help!Yes check for rusty , corroded , bad connections in the charging system but if you've only connected a volt meter up to the battery to test it , that's not good enough of a test bec the battery isn't under any load.Make sure you take the battery out and have it tested by a shop or test it with a battery charge , charge it up fully before putting it back in.But to me honestly it sounds like the battery is probably shot.

Hope that helps and best of luck. What would cause starting problems and electrical problems in a 1986 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan? Please help!
it could be the electronic brain, my car does that sometimes..i have an 89 Honda accord, there are times when it wont start for any reason..then one day i disconnect the right battery cable, and left it off for about ten minutes, thus giving the brain time to reset it's self, and it started right up..if you can, take it to a mechanic and have them do a diagnostic, hope i helped some..good luck. What would cause starting problems and electrical problems in a 1986 Toyota Corolla 4 door sedan? The battery and battery terminals, When you let a car sit, you need to go out every month and start it and let it run for a couple of minutes. A good answer would be check (all of the above.) That the little box at the end of a long list of thing to check. I will not even tell you how many time, after I got the engine to turn over, I ended up cleaning the gas line from the gas tank to the carburetor.
CLEAN YOUR BATTERY TERMINALS WITH SANDPAPER AND CONNECTIONS ,,PUT BATTERY ON CHARGED FOR A HOUR OR SO ,,CHECK UNDER THE CAR FOR ANY LOOSE WIRES
