Squealing on a 1996 toyota corolla upons cold start?

i have a 1996 toyota corolla that upon a cold start will squeal for about 3 seconds then when i put the car in reverse or drive my steering wheel feels like when a power steering pump is going out. i have had the belts checks and they are not the propblem. Have had the alternator checked and it is within the ok range. when it has rained the squeal is worse especially in turning the wheels.Squealing on a 1996 toyota corolla upons cold start?Have you checked the idler pully if you have and it is fine i would bet you have a bearing going out in the P/S pump or alternator just cuz it was in the ok range dont mean the bearing isnt going outSquealing on a 1996 toyota corolla upons cold start?
its never ok to put anything like wd40 on a belt. Any petroluem based liquid will eat up the belt and make it breal even faster. Have the pulleys cleaned up with a wire brush and install some gatorback belts or dayco belts.if that doesnt work, while its running rub a candle on both sides of the belts and it will add some tackiness to the bets and pulleys. And have it checked by an ase cert auto tech cuz if your going to vip or pepboys those guys usually have no idea what there doing.Squealing on a 1996 toyota corolla upons cold start? There is nothing wrong, but that is the belts squealing. It is normal for the belts to sequel when it is cold or wet outside. As for the power steering, the pump may not be all the way to capacity if you just turned the car on.Squealing on a 1996 toyota corolla upons cold start?
I would first check if your fluid level is normal. You may have air in the line.Have a friend take the pumps cap off and see the level. If normal then turn all the way one way and see level again. If low fill then turn the other way and repeat.Good Luck.Squealing on a 1996 toyota corolla upons cold start? The pulley is probably glazed. If the belt is tight, spray a little WD 40 on the belt while it is running (wear safety glasses). It will be quiet for some time to come.
