My 1995 Toyota Corolla shakes when at a complete stop. What could be some possible problems?

I recently bought a 1995 Toyota Corolla (manual transmission). It runs great except lately it's been shaking when at a complete stop (either in neutral or 1st gear). As soon as I give it some gas, the shaking stops. It seems my gas mileage has gone down as well. Any ideas what could be wrong? (I should note that I live in a very cold, wet climate with temperatures below freezing)My 1995 Toyota Corolla shakes when at a complete stop.
