Should I sell my 1997 toyota 4runner and buy a 1995 chevy van with 108000 less miles?

Hi!

I recently was given a 1997 toyota 4runner with 200,000 miles on it. A great deal came up where I can buy a 1995 g 20 coachman van (bed, interior lights, cd) in great condition with way less miles.

Its a six cylinder though and my toyota was four.

Should I go through with it?

The toyota can't last much longer.

Thanks!Should I sell my 1997 toyota 4runner and buy a 1995 chevy van with 108000 less miles? Most likely, such a switch would be very unwise.

Firstly, a Toyota at 200,000 miles may be less than halfway through its useful life, barring unusual abuse. AutoOnInfo.net's Roster of 300,000+-Mile Vehicles has two 4Runners with more than 400,000 miles, one with more than 500,000 miles. Also, of vehicles on this roster, Toyota products account for 62% of the vehicles with more than 400,000 miles and 15 years.

Secondly, AutoOnInfo.net's reliability and durability studies suggest that a typical Chevrolet vehicle at 7 years of age may be as troublesome to own as a typical Toyota vehicle at 34 years of age.

Thirdly, Consumer Reports' accords the 1998 4-cylinder 4Runner its highest Reliability Verdict, and all of the reliability ratings for the individual categories are either Much Above Average or Above Average, save for one that is Average. (CR's Reliability Verdicts go back only 10 model years.)

For a long list of additional reasons not to make such a switch, see this Yahoo best answer:

The Yahoo Answer database is a very valuable tool.Should I sell my 1997 toyota 4runner and buy a 1995 chevy van with 108000 less miles? They Toyota will go for another 200K Miles easy and the Chevy will die soon 108K miles on the Chevy van is getting ready to need maintenance , unless the owner replaced everything thats needed. and gave it a tune up too. I would keep the Toyota, and its still great on gas. The van weighs more and will burn more gas.

If you get the right Price for the Toyota then its up to you. Toyota is known for the reliability and endurance. they are good well over 200K miles.Should I sell my 1997 toyota 4runner and buy a 1995 chevy van with 108000 less miles? With the Chevy van your looking at 8-12 miles per gallon and no power, I have a 95 g20 and with that much strain on the v6 it wont have a long life i would have to stick with the 4runner
