There might be a chip you can install to replace the stock one so it runs more efficient. Otherwise you need to make it breathe easier. So a header and free flow exhaust will give you a little bit. Then install a cool air intake system, this will give you very little in performance. Installing a turbo or supercharger might be too much for your old engine so I would advise against it. For what you are going to get out of these additions you are still going to have a slow car. So you need to rebuild your engine so a new cam and new pistons can be installed. Then get it to breathe and you will be making horsepower that you will notice. Otherwise your only other option is getting a car with more horsepower. How can i add a little more juice into my 1993 toyota corolla?Look into modifying the intake system. You can free up a few horsepower by removing the restrictions, though you will get more sound (or noise depending on how you look at it) and better throttle response.

You could find the intake resonator and remove it. It is usually a plastic box in the fender that cancels out intake noise at certain frequency and does little else.

You could buy a cold air intake system or a short ram intake. You could simply buy a K %26amp; N cone filter ($40), remove the air filter and box, and attach it to the end of the intake pipe.
